Some Details Regarding Connections to the SLAC Reflector

For nv/vat connections use ports 4444 and 3456 respectively, and don't forget to configure for conf ID 103. Please be careful not to send an A/V stream down the chain. In the US, if you can get a decent feed from dementia, that would be preferred, since Joe is not sure if he can block an nv/vat stream from going down the network from connection to Saturn.
All three of these machines can supply a BCC feed to a local machine at your site. To configure your WP 2.1 reflector, configure a conference for ID 103 and include the following line in reflect.cfg: obtain-bcc 134.79.24.61 777 Please see http://www.wpine.com/product/ref-demo-request.html if you want a demo of the latest version (2.1). Demo versions that Joe distributed last year have expired. Help resources:

On Macs, The current version of OT works fine. The current Cornell version is 8.5b1.

On PCs, Joe suggests people use the White Pine free 30-day demo.

Macs/PCs: For Collaboration meeting netcasts, the reflectors are configured to not permit a CU-SeeMe client that is sending video to connect. If you are refused, be sure that the "I will send video" box in the connection dialog window is deselected, wait a minute, and then try again. Don't forget to specify Conference ID 103, and not the default value!

On UNIX, remember that you can't run nv/vat on the same machine as the reflector -- the nv/vat ports are already busy. Be sure to set nv to CU-SeeMe encoding, grey scale, and small window before connecting. Otherwise you will not see video and you will 'damage' the reflector. You do need to specify both the port and conference id number:

nv -encoding cuseeme -recvGrey -xmitGrey IP_address port conf_ID
nv -encoding cuseeme -recvGrey -xmitGrey saturn.slac.stanford.edu 4444 103

You may also need to specify a ttl.
